The Environment Agency has hailed the success of a ten month project that has improved the quality of bathing water in Southend ahead of the summer season.
Bathing water quality in Southend was affected by pollution from several sources. One of the main causes was over 130 properties not properly connected to the foul water drainage system, including a new block of 40 flats.
Southend is now one of the Environment Agency's top five bathing water locations in the South East.
